In the article “Immigration Reform: Legalized Workers Earn More and SpendMore,” published by NYTimes.com in April 2013, the author informs the reader that if the US legalized workers it would be a “powerful economic and fiscal boost to this country” (Fitz, 2013).The article elaborated on the fact that if these immigrant workers were legalized they would have opportunities to invest in.
Immigration to Canada in the nineteen hundreds caused much racial discrimination, many deaths and left immigrants with many negative things to voice about Canada. However, not withstanding it still is for one to realize that even though Canada has had and still does have a very huge issue with immigration it still helped define Canada today.
Since Colombian immigration is relatively low, compared to other Latin American groups, i.e. Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans and Cubans, they have poor language skills and, therefore, are predominantly Spanish-speaking that naturally creates problems in their integration in socio-economic and political life of the country. This is why they still remain politically underrepresented, even more.
